Humanitarian Technologies – Taenzer Ad Hoc Committee PACE & SIGHT Region 1 Initiative Humanitarian Technologies Robotics & AI: Accessibility and Inclusion Together with WIE YP and Micromouse We bring a series of Webinars to raise awareness of how technology can improve quality of life for people and how we can advance technology for humanity. Focus is upon diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion. The series increases awareness of how individual and ubiquitous technologies presence can provide quality of life for everybody including people with disabling conditions for example mobility, hearing, vision, and for people who are aging in place, and people with various needs in health for example diabetes, asthma, and other needs. In this presentation, Larry Nelson Jr, P.E, Principal Engineer, Protection Engineering NE National Grid will lead us in a discussion of how the utility becomes aware of a power outage at a home and how it is handled when it’s a small incident and then we will explore how that changes on larger scale outages and what things are considered to help all people equally be situationally aware. Larry Nelson Jr. PE has been leading the IEEE Region 1 YP with distinction inspiring and providing meaningful programs. He is an IEEE senior member, and has been an IEEE member for 22 years. His Bachelor is in ECE from WPI in 2007; his Masters of science is in power systems management in 2010. He is a Registered P.E. in Mass in 2018.
